Live on Sky Sports 4: Thu 10:00 Angus Loughran previews the Welsh Open tournament at Celtic Manor.
It has very much a feeling of the calm before the storm at Celtic Manor this week as several members of the European team try to fine tune their game before next week’s Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.
Stephen Gallacher will be aiming to prove Paul McGinley right in selecting him as a Ryder Cup wildcard and the Scot looks a decent price at 22/1 while I haven’t lost faith in Ross Fisher. He was a member of Europe’s Ryder Cup winning side at this course four years ago, so it brings back happy memories for him and he looks worth taking a chance on at 50/1.
On the Ryder Cup front Europe should justify their favouritism but the course is very much of an American style and if conditions remain decent with no wind then their price of 15/8 will look huge. If the weather takes a turn for the worse however, Europe will be hard to beat.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
