Paul Ferguson has two selections from Newbury for us on Saturday; Limato in the 14:20 and Arab Dawn in the 14:55. Compare odds and bet.
Despite stepping up in class and returning from a 64-day lay-off Limato (2:20) is fancied to maintain his 100% record and make it four from four in this afternoon’s Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury.
Henry Candy’s son of Tagula completed the hat-trick over today’s course-and-distance in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes during July, where he easily fended off subsequent Molecombe Stakes winner Cotai Glory.
Despite facing a couple of interesting opponents, notably Strath Burn, Limato will take the beating if coping with the easier ground. He was trading at 6-4 overnight.
The Dubai Duty Free Handicap some 35 minutes later looks a cracker, with the lightly-raced Air Pilot certainly one for any shortlist. Given his early season form, he looks capable of landing a nice prize but, at the odds, preference is for Arab Dawn (2:55) who should be backed each-way (7-1 overnight).
Hughie Morrison’s three-year-old returned from a break to finish third at Doncaster last week, where he again travelled with some purpose. A winner here earlier in the season, the grey looks more than capable of putting up a bold show under Martin Dwyer.
Saturday’s selections:
2:20 Newbury: Limato
2:55 Newbury: Arab Dawn
