Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Wednesday; Heaney each way in the Listowel 16:40. Compare odds and bet.
Listowel stages the Guinness Kerry National on Wednesday, in which it is worth taking a punt on the jumping of Heaney (16:40) who has the natural ability to land a valuable handicap off his current mark.
Tom Taaffe’s seven-year-old was third off a 1lb higher mark in a competitive Cheltenham handicap hurdle a couple of years ago and was most recently seen finishing fourth in a warm handicap chase at the Punchestown Festival, having finished a fine sixth in the Irish Grand National the time before.
The Flemensfirth gelding is two from 10 over fences, but that record could have read a fair bit better and, should he put in a decent round on his first start for 137 days (has gone well fresh in the past and handles good ground), he is more than capable of going close.
Trading at 14-1 with the three firms who priced the race up handy on Tuesday afternoon, he is worth supporting each-way.
Wednesday’s selection:
16:40 Listowel Heaney; 14/1 bet365
