Ladbrokes make Europe 10/11 to win a fourth Ryder Cup on the spin after their victory over the United States at Gleneagles.
The firm are celebrating with the European team having kept Paul McGinley’s men onside throughout, laying the USA as they fell behind with Europe remaining odds-on at all times during play – touching a biggest price of 10/11 on the Friday.
Europe are the 10/11 favourites for 2016 with the USA 11/10 and the draw 10/1, with Darren Clarke installed as the 1/2 favourite to captain the side.
It’s not all good news for the bookies though as Justin Rose’s exploits as top points scorer triggered a single payout of £100,000. The biggest single bet on the result was also successful, with one Europe backer collecting £50,000 following their £30,000 bet at 4/6.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Betrescue: “At first we were fearing an European victory but we kept them on side in play so as a result we’re celebrating too. Plenty backed the USA to pull of their own comeback but thankfully that never materialised.”
He added: “It may be a long way off yet but we fancy the European dominance in the competition to continue. The betting suggests Clarke will be in charge when Europe cross the pond in 2016.”
