Sat 15.00: A 5/1 (bet365) fourfold of home wins and a Celtic cruise are two of our four Scottish Premiership picks this weekend.
Of the five Premiership teams playing at home on Saturday, only St Johnstone kick off priced as odds-against (11/10, Skybet) to secure maximum points. The other four – Aberdeen, Celtic, Inverness and Motherwell are all odds-on (8/13, 2/9, 5/6 and 4/6 respectively).
Backing this quartet in a £10 win accumulator at those prices (all with bet365) to come out on top in Saturday’s league encounters would, if successful, generate a gross return of £60.33.
A strong case can be made for supporting four home wins.
Aberdeen, for example, have won their last three against Saturday’s visitors Kilmarnock (5/1, William Hill) and with silverware finally in the cupboard at Pittodrie, the Dons are attractively priced (13/5, Ladbrokes) to secure a one goal margin of victory.
Celtic, who have won ten and drawn one of their last eleven matches against St Mirren are the weekend’s banker. Betway offer 5/4 against the champions-elect winning when kicking off with a two goal deficit, odds with which it’s difficult to argue.
If the accumulator is to stumble, then Inverness could prove the culprits. They’ve drawn and lost against Partick (7/2, Winner.com) already this term and punters may feel the 23/5 available at Ladbrokes for the fixture to finish all square offers decent insurance. Stan James chalk an inviting 13/2 about a 1-0 home win and one could be enough to settle this duel.
Motherwell, who have won four of their six encounters with Ross, are 15/8 (BetVictor.com) to lead at the end of both halves on Saturday and can be backed at 6/1 to register a 1-0 success.
Meanwhile, at McDiarmid Park, St Johnstone host Hibs. The Saints lost 2-1 when the sides last met in Perthshire in September, although the Edinburgh side still start as bet365’s 5/1 underdogs, a status not improved by their poor run of form – they’ve won only once in their last eleven outings.
St Johnstone, who have kept 13 clean sheets this term, are 5/2 (Skybet) to prevent Hibs from scoring and can be backed at 3/1 (Stan James) to win following a drawn opening half. Elsewhere, BetVictor.com chalk an attractive 13/2 against them winning 1-0 – a result many of their supporters will feel is overdue following Hibs’ recent success in this fixture.
