Arsenal are now odds-on favourites at 4/7 courtesy of Ladbrokes to lift the FA Cup after the semi-final line-up was decided over the weekend.
The Gunners booked their place in the last four with a 4-1, quarter final success over Everton and were drawn against holders Wigan, who stunned Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in a repeat of last year’s final.
Before kick off on in that contest, it was a 16/1 shot that lightning would strike twice and Wigan would beat Manchester City, and Ladbrokes report that only 88 antepost bets were placed on the away team to come out victorious.
The Latics are a 9/1 shot at Ladbrokes to retain the trophy while Hull are 3/1 having seen off Sunderland and their semi-final opponents, League One Sheffield United are Ladbrokes’s 12/1 outsiders.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told Betrescue: “We couldn’t give Wigan away at 16/1, but for the second time in a year they’ve defied the odds leaving the bookies to toast a drink with Dave Whelan tonight.”
She added: “Finally it looks like Arsenal fans are going to get their hands on some long and overdue silverware this season.”
