It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Tottenham who have suffered damaging domestic defeats to Chelsea and neighbours Arsenal either side of a 3-1 home reverse to Benfica in the Europa League.
Heading to Lisbon for the return leg in that competition, Spurs are now 14/1 with Paddy Power to reach the next round at the expense of their Portuguese opponents, who were so dominant in the first leg at White Hart Lane and it’s difficult to envisage Tim Sherwood’s troops turning things around in the Estadio da Luz.
Needing to go for it from the off, Tottenham could be left exposed defensively and as they demonstrated in the first encounter Benfica have enough quality to capitalise.
