Live on Sky Sports 4: Thu 08:30 & 02:00 Angus Loughran previews this week’s South African Open and World Cup of Golf tournaments
Adam Scott is a patriotic Aussie and it would give him great pleasure to win this weeks World Cup of Golf in Melbourne alongside Jason Day and they are solid market leaders at 7/4, the same price as their cricketers are ahead of the first Ashes Test in Brisbane. Scott meanwhile, is in tremendous form and at 100/30 will take all the beating in the individual event.
Sweden at 14/1 look the value each-way alternative, with Jonas Blitx and Peter Hanson sure to give a decent account of themselves. Blitx at 50/1 looks huge in the individual market.
Henrik Stenson takes a well deserved break after his amazing run earned him the top prizes on both sides of the Atlantic and he has been the most consistent golfer in the world since May by a distance. His next target must surely to be to win a Major and it will surprise many he is still 25/1 with Ladbrokes to win 2013 Masters next April.
Charl Schwartzel has yet to win the African Open Championship but he is a strong 3/1 favourite to do so this year in an event that has been dominated in recent years by South Africans.
If the favourite is to be beaten, Ross Fisher at 14/1 looks to have decent credentials while Tom Lewis looks like an over the odds outsider at 66/1 and I am still convinced he has a really big future in the game. He’s one to follow for the 2014 season.
Good luck
