Live on SS1&2: Thu 06.00 & 22:00 Angus Loughran previews this week’s Perth International and Shriners Open tournaments.
2013 has not been the best of years for Nick Watney but he hs a great chance of putting that right with a win in the Shriners Hospitals For Children Open in Las Vegas.
He has a decent record here and is ready for another big week in my opinion so he looks a decent bet at 18/1 with Paddy Power who also pay six places for each-way bets.
It is easy to see why Zach Johnson is 12/1 favourite having enjoyed such a strong Presidents Cup event for the USA and he has to have a chance.
I also like 28/1 shot Brendon de Jonge, who should give each-way backers a good run for their money following his bold runners-up showing here last year while Camillo Villegas looks over the odds at 100/1.
The action in Australia takes place in Perth on a course which twice staged Johnnie Walker Championships in 2002 and 2003 but has had many changes since.
Dustin Johnson is the class act but seems very short at 7/1 and although I fancy the chances of Paul Casey, his quote of 10/1 does little to settle the pulse racing. Indeed, the trouble Down Under is that there is little strength in depth in the field and subsequently I feel there could be an upset.
Marcus Frazer at 33/1 looks decent value while Brandon Grace, who has perhaps not been at his best this year, is overpriced at 28/1.
Good luck
