At York on Sunday, smart dual-purpose performer Recession Proof (4:05) returns from a two-and-a-half year absence and, if he is anywhere near his best, he has been given a chance by the handicapper.
Last seen finishing fifth in a very good renewal of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham, John Quinn’s nine-year-old was expected to return at Chester last week and the money for him during the day indicates he retains plenty of ability.
In a fairly weak 2m handicap by the track’s standards, he should go close and is worth a small each-way interest on a fairly quiet day.
