Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Friday; Upswing 3:05 Ascot: Caravan Rolls On and 9:20 Chester: Double Discount. Compare odds and bet.
Despite the burden of carrying 10 stone and top-weight Caravan Rolls On (3:05) is fancied to get off the mark for the season at Ascot on Friday under Harry Bentley.
The five-year-old was a winner here on the final start of his three-year-old season and he has remained progressive since, despite finishing only fourth on both starts this term.
He shaped really well over this trip on his return at Newmarket in May, in a race that is working out really well (winner went on to run a cracker at Royal Ascot, the second won next time, the third also ran well at Ascot before finishing third in the Northumberland Plate, and Biographer, who dead-heated with him for fourth, went close in Listed company last Saturday).
Inconvenienced by the drop in trip at Ascot, the selection still shaped with promise when finishing fourth in the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap and he will relish the step back up to 1m6f. With the quick ground in his favour, everything looks in place for a bold showing.
Up at Chester Double Discount (9:20) is fancied to complete the hat-trick in the concluding Trinity Mirror Cheshire Handicap, having travelled so well when scoring at Haydock last Friday night.
He kept on well to beat Velox that day and can defy a 6lb penalty under 5lb claimer Declan Bates, who has a 33% strike-rate for the stable (1 winner from just 3 rides). He was trading at 11/8 with Bet Victor early on Thursday evening.
Friday’s selections:
3:05 Ascot: Caravan Rolls On; 15/8 Coral
9:20 Chester: Double Discount; 11/10 Skybet
