Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; Lady Nouf in the Newbury 3.25 and Backhani in the Uttoxeter 6.40. Compare odds and bet.
William Haggas has in string in fine form of late and the Newmarket trainer can land Thursday’s feature, the Lord Weinstock Memorial Stakes at Newbury, with Lady Nouf (3:25).
An impressive winner on her sole start at two, she disappointed in the Nell Gwyn on her return before finishing runner-up to subsequent Oaks winner Talent in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes.
The Teofilo filly appreciated the step up in trip last time and she looks more than capable of scoring at this level before returning to Group contests.
Over the jumps at Uttoxeter Beckhani (6:40) is fancied to get off the mark at the second time of asking over fences for Jonjo O’Neill and AP McCoy.
The six-year-old chased home Pendra in a Huntingdon bumper for Charlie Brooks, after which his current connections paid £70,000 for him last April. Still a maiden, he showed plenty of promise behind Lough Derg Way (won again since) and, though the form of that race has been let down by the third and fourth, he is certainly capable of winning over fences.
An opening mark of 107 seems more than fair and the son of Flemensfirth impressed with the way he travelled to two out at Newton Abbot last time.
Thursday’s selections:
3:25 Newbury: Lady Nouf; 7/4 Skybet
6:40 Uttoxeter: Beckhani; 11/10 Paddy Power
