Ladbrokes make Chelsea 7/4 to occupy the first Match of the Day slot of the new Premier League season after the fixtures were revealed.
The combination of Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge and his side’s opening day clash with newly-promoted Hull is considered to be a potentially big draw for the highlights show and that means they’re favourites to open the programme.
David Moyes’s first game in charge of Manchester United, who head to Swansea, is 5/2 at Ladbrokes to be first up while Arsenal’s game against Aston Villa is 9/1 to be entertaining enough to fill that opening slot.
At 28/1 (Ladbrokes), the fixtures at Sunderland and West Brom are not considered likely to head the coverage.
Where the match odds are concerned, Ladbrokes have installed Hull as huge outsiders at 14/1 to get the better of Chelsea, Crystal Palace are the promoted team given the best chance of victory – they’re 7/2 (Ladbrokes) to see off Spurs and the firm make David Moyes 7/10 to start life at Old Trafford with a victory over Swansea.
Man City meanwhile, will also start the campaign with a new boss and are 2/7 via Ladbrokes to begin the Manuel Pellegrini-era with a maximum haul at home to Newcastle.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Betrescue: “The odds suggest the MOTD cameras will be primed at Stamford Bridge for the return of Mourinho. It looks like Sunderland or West Brom would have to serve up something special to usurp any of the Premier League favourites for the opening slot.”
He added: “The first fixture list looks chock-full of coupon bankers. Punters will be hoping all of the new managers get their careers off to fliers.”
