Live on BBC1: Thurs 20.00: Spain (2/5, Coral) can see off Italy in the Confederations Cup and Fernando Torres could net.
After cruising into the semi-finals with three wins out of three in the Confederations Cup, Spain are now Ladbrokes’ 23/20 favourites to win the tournament ahead of their semi-final showdown against Italy.
In a repeat of last year’s European Championship final, Vicente del Bosque’s team are just 2/5 with Coral to defeat the Azzurri in normal time while the Italians are 8/1 courtesy of bet365 to cause an upset.
Cesare Prandelli’s troops have conceded too many goals so far in the tournament and that defensive frailty could be their undoing in Fortaleza, where Ladbrokes make Spain 13/8 to notch at least three times.
BetVictor’s 11/1, posted against a 3-1 success for the world and European champions isn’t without appeal and Ladbrokes price the clash at 7/4 to produce four or more goals.
Fernando Torres, at the head of the scoring charts after the group phase with five goals, is Coral’s 5/1 favourite to open the scoring but four of his goals came against minnows Tahiti so his tally isn’t necessarily too significant.
Furthermore, as the Spanish have such a wealth of attacking options, there’s no guarantee that the Chelsea man will start so he might be a better bet at 5/4 (Stan James) to add to his total at any point.
Recommended Bets:
Fernando Torres to score at any time – 5/4 (Stan James)
Spain to beat Italy 3-1 – 11/1 (BetVictor)
