Live on Skysports 1: Sun 13.30: Reading (13/8, Betfred) can beat beleaguered QPR in the battle between the Premier League’s bottom two.
If either Reading or QPR lose their basement battle at the Madejski Stadium they will officially be relegated but the truth of the matter is that fate of both sides was sealed some time ago and it would take more than a miracle to see either side avoid the drop.
This match is effectively to restore some pride then and try to steer clear of the Premier League’s wooden spoon and it could be the team that turns up with the most desire that claims the spoils.
In the circumstances, I fully expect that to be Betfred’s 13/8 favourites Reading. The Royals, who were as good as doomed when they attempted one last throw of the dice by replacing Brian McDermott with Nigel Adkins, have taken just one point from their last nine matches but they’ve at least been giving it a go, as they demonstrated in their last home match – a goalless encounter with Liverpool.
Bet365’s 15/8 chances QPR by contrast, look like they have all but given up; they simply fell apart as soon as Everton scored the first at Goodison Park a fortnight ago and it got worse last weekend as they went down at home to a horribly out of sorts Stoke side.
They’ve shown nothing of late to suggest they can get anything from this contest and even Harry Redknapp seems to be struggling to motivate the West London outfit.
BetVictor make the hosts 19/2 to grab the only goal and it’s a generous 10/3 via Skybet for the Royals to shade it by a one-goal margin.
