Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Sunday; The Skyfarmer in the Wincanton 5.40. Compare odds and bet.
Plenty of short priced novices knocking about on Sunday with the likes of Sire De Grugy and Lord Wishes appearing to have been found very suitable opportunities to finish their seasons on a high.
Both will be very short, however, while down at Wincanton it will be interesting to see how smart bumper performer Royal Guardsman fares now he meets better ground for the first time over hurdles. Clearly talented, he still needs to prove he stays 2m4f but it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he bounced back to winning ways.
In the concluding bumper The Skyfarmer (5:40) sets a fair standard and is certainly good enough to win one of these before being sent hurdling in the autumn.
A point-to-point winner on good ground, he ran a blinder on debut when just a head second to Red Sherlock at Ascot, before being put to the sword by the exciting West Wizard at Kempton. He eventually finished third that day, but chased the pace and was probably the second best horse in the race.
Philip Hobbs’ five-year-old faces another Nicky Henderson newcomer today, in the shape of the well-bred Cup Final, and the market should prove informative.
