Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; Sleeping City in the Wincanton 4.00 and Silverburn in the Ludlow 4.40. Compare odds and bet.
Though he remains a maiden Sleeping City (4:00) is still a horse a some interest and Victor Dartnall’s six-year-old returns to action following a 165-day lay-off in the 2m handicap hurdle at Wincanton on Thursday.
The son of Sleeping Car has been in the notebook since finishing fourth to Claret Cloak in a bumper here in November 2011 and when runner-up to Darlan on his hurdles debut at Kempton the same month.
After four months off, he was all set to challenge the smart Swing Bowler at the last when crashing out at Newton Abbot, but at least that day he showed he goes well fresh on quick ground and on a tight track.
Despite failing twice since, Denis O’Regan’s mount remains off interest off his current mark and he looks worth supporting each-way at 7/1 in what looks a competitive midweek heat.
Silverburn (4:40) is another last time out faller is worth siding with in the hunter chase at Ludlow, following his fall at Aintree just seven days ago.
Evan Williams’ 12-year-old was still travelling well when coming down at Becher’s Brook, having earlier chased home the smart Bold Addition (fell at the same fence last week) at Warwick.
A winner under today’s conditions at Musselburgh last February, Denman’s full brother was always at his best around this trip when racing under rules for Paul Nicholls.
Thursday’s selections:
4:00 Wincanton: Sleeping City (each-way 7/1 Paddy Power)
4:40 Ludlow: Silverburn (7/4 Skybet)
