Live on ITV: Mon 12.30: Chelsea are 6/4 (bet365) for an FA Cup win over Man Utd but the value lies with a potential goal glut.
It was the cliched ‘game of two halves’ at Old Trafford when Manchester United and Chelsea faced off the first time in their FA Cup quarter final contest, the hosts taking a 2-0 lead in at the interval only to be frustrated as the Blues fought back to earn a replay.
As both teams were in Premier League action on Saturday it’s hard to predict the two line-ups as the sides prepare to renew hostilities and that makes it difficult to pick a winner.
Bookies lean towards the hosts, bet365 pricing Rafa Benitez’s side at 6/4 and BetVictor quoting odds of 19/10 for United to book a last four collision with rivals Manchester City in normal time.
Stan James meanwhile chalk the clash up at 5/2 to require extra time and that’s not without appeal given that the pair needed another half an hour to be separated at Stamford Bridge in the Capital One Cup.
However, that’s only a tentative recommendation in a match that really could go either way and the value is actually in the goals markets as it looks set to be a high-scoring encounter.
Discounting the three extra time strikes in their League Cup clash, the sides have racked up a massive 25 goals in their last five meetings in all competitions and as both teams might make changes or alternatively field a few tired players, another glut is a distinct possibility.
Ladbrokes offer 4/6 about a tally of three or more goals but BetVictor’s 17/10 for the tie to generate at least four is the eye catcher.
