Sat 15.00: Port Vale (4/5, BetVictor) should beat Aldershot in League Two, where there could also be wins for Burton and Torquay.
Port Vale got their promotion bid back on track last weekend with a victory over struggling York and the Valiants can prove they’ve turned the corner by picking up another vital three points as they entertain rock bottom Aldershot.
The visitors head to Vale Park on the back of a five-match winless streak and although they tend to be tougher to beat on their travels, Micky Adams’ men should be too strong, especially now we’re at the business end of the campaign. They’re a home banker at 4/5 with BetVictor.
Also a solid bet, at 17/20 via Hills, to collect a maximum haul on their own patch are Burton Albion. The third-placed Brewers have lost just one of their last eleven matches but crucially they have also racked up an impressive 14 victories on home soil and that’s a statistic that’s hard to ignore as they prepare to face a Wycombe team going to Staffordshire having lost five of their last eight.
At the bottom, Torquay have shown signs of life recently, going three matches unbeaten and ending an eleven match winless streak in midweek by getting the better of Chesterfield.
The Gulls have now given themselves a real chance of survival and they can boost their chances in that department as they host York, a team without a victory in 14 attempts.
Nigel Worthington has thus far been unable to revive the Minstermen since replacing Gary Mills and although Richard Cresswell’s arrival should go some way to solving their goal scoring woes, City have to be fancied at 7/5 (Ladbrokes) to suffer another defeat at Plainmoor.
