Sun 15.00: Newcastle, at 19/20 (Stan James) should win their Premier League clash with Stoke, who might struggle to score.
Despite a decent performance, Newcastle were edged out at Swansea last weekend meaning they have still managed only one victory on the road all season but back on home soil, Alan Pardew’s charges are expected to return to winning ways by getting the better of Stoke.
Stan James have installed the Magpies as 19/20 favourites for the points at St James’ Park, where the Potters are 7/2 with BetVictor to make it back-to-back defeats for United and Ladbrokes post 12/5 against it finishing all square.
The latter could be a popular selection given that the Potters have racked up plenty of travelling stalemates and cash is subsequently expected for both BetVictor’s quote of 10/1 for a goalless encounter and bet365’s 4/1 for both halves to be inconclusive.
However, the visitors have managed just one league victory in nine attempts and tend to struggle on the road so it’s hard to overlook the much-improved Magpies.
Bet365 chalk Pardew’s team up at 5/2 to shade it by a one-goal margin and it’s 17/2 (Stan James) for them to finish on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline, although Stoke’s shortage of goals at the moment lends appeal to a victory ‘to nil’ for the hosts, at 21/10 via Skybet and more specifically, BetVictor price Pardew’s team at 13/2 to grab the only goal.
That would be a boost for punters speculating on a match total of fewer than three goals at 8/11 courtesy of bet365, although the likes of Papiss Cisse and Yoan Gouffran will be intent on raising that tally; the pair are 9/2 (William Hill) and 7/1 (Coral) respectively to break the deadlock.
