Venetia Williams’ mare made giant strides on decent ground last March and was running a cracker on return when over-pitching at the third last in the Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury.
Assuming her confidence hasn’t been knocked, she should go very close off the same mark and could be backed at 5/1 with Ladbrokes overnight.
It’s Dubai World Cup day over at Meydan, where Imperial Monarch (1:45) steps up in trip to 2m for his first start as a four-year-old.
A winner in heavy ground at Sandown last term, he looked unlucky in the French Derby before winning the Grand Prix De Paris. Throughout last season he looked a stayer in the making and he could easily develop in to a Gold Cup contender this term.
This is no easy task on his first start at the trip, but the son of Galileo gets 6lbs from the likes of Saddler’s Rock and, though unproven on the ground, is worth siding with at 5/2 with Paddy Power.
