Live on ITV: Tues 20.00: England are 4/5 (bet365) to beat Montenegro in their vital World Cup qualifier but it could be close.
The trip to Group H leaders Montenegro was always destined to be the tougher assignment of England’s World Cup double header but after the facile victory over San Marino Roy Hodgson’s men have seen their odds for victory in Podgorica cut to 4/5 by bet365.
They deserve to kick off as favourites but against a stubborn Montengeran outfit, the Three Lions can expect it to be closer than Friday’s 8-0 triumph in the Stadio Olimpico, a repeat of which is a 500/1 shot at Paddy Power.
The hosts were reduced to ten men in Moldova last time out but still managed to nick all three points to retain their place at the group summit and they won’t relinquish it lightly.
Indeed in the pair’s last two meetings, in qualifying for Euro 2012, both matches finished all square and some punters might back another stalemate in this one, at 11/4 courtesy of Betfred.
However, England should be the fresher of the two having rested a few players and enjoyed a pretty relaxed evening in San Marino and Hodgson’s troops can make their extra energy count.
Ladbrokes make them 13/5 to edge it by a one-goal margin and BetVictor post an equally enticing 6/1 against a 1-0 away success.
Wayne Rooney meanwhile, is in cracking form for his country and Coral quote the Manchester United front man at 5/1 to break the deadlock.
Recommended Bets:
