Live on Sky Sports 1 & 2: Thu 08:30 & 20:00 Angus Loughran previews this week’s Africa Open and Northern Trust Open tournaments
Phil Mickleson heads the market at 14/1 in what looks a wide open Northern Trust at Riviera in Los Angeles.
Mickleson should go well but it is Luke Donald who may be a little rusty after a longer than usual winter break who seems rather generous at 22/1. Donald may well be using this week to get fully prepared for upcoming World Matchplay but this course is ideal for him and he looks overpriced to me. JB Holmes at 90/1 with Coral is also too big as he is playing far better golf than his scores suggest at the moment while Tim Clark at 80/1 should also be included in this weeks American portfolio.
The Africa Open in East London sees Thomas Aitken lead the market at 10/1 but Tommy Fleetwood who gave us a great run at big odds lately should play well and is a fare price this week at 25/1 in what surely must be on the weekest events of the year on European Tour. Lee Slattery is one big price outsider I like here at 66/1 while Robert Rock at 33/1 would outclass this field if showing anything like the form that won him last years Abu Dhabi Championship.
Brandt Snedeker a winner last week at Pebble continues to attract support for Aprils Masters at Augusta having been been freely available at 50/1 just a few weeks ago he is now top price 20/1 and is without doubt the best backed outsider over the winter for the seasons first Major.
Good luck
