Live on ITV: Sun 16.00: Liverpool are 2/7 at Hills to see off Oldham in the FA Cup and Daniel Sturridge is set to strike again.
Liverpool have won four of their last five in all competitions, culminating in Saturday’s 5-0 mauling of Norwich so they don’t exactly look like a candidate for suffering an FA Cup upset this weekend as they head to League One outfit Oldham. Nevertheless, the television cameras will be in attendance at Boundary Park just in case and they’re 13/1 via bet365 to be rewarded with a major shock.
Inevitably, the Reds are emphatic favourites, at 2/7 with William Hill and it’s 11/2 (Skybet) for the Latics to force a replay but given the form of Brendan Rodgers’ troops, it’s hard to envisage anything other than a straightforward Liverpool triumph.
That was the outcome when the pair met in the third round last season, the Reds running out 5-1 winners at Anfield on that occasion and Stan James offer 33/1 about a repeat. A 2-1 success meanwhile, replicating their result at Mansfield in the last round, is a 10/1 shot at BetVictor but the final score could actually be somewhere in the middle and those in agreement can tackle the same firm’s 11/1 for Rodger’s charges to finish on the right side of a 3-1 scoreline.
That would certainly be good news for fans backing Liverpool in Skybet’s handicaps, where they start a goal in arrears at odds of 8/13 and also for those backing both teams to score (11/10, bet365) or opting for a match tally of three or more goals at 8/15 (Stan James).
The first of those is 3/1 courtesy of Paddy Power to be struck by Daniel Sturridge, who has made a flying start to his Reds career and could start this fixture, but bookies are still convinced that Luis Suarez poses more of a threat, bet365 rating him at 5/2 to break the deadlock.
Recommended Bets:
Daniel Sturridge to score first – 3/1 (Paddy Power)
Liverpool to beat Oldham 3-1 – 11/1 (BetVictor)
