Paul Ferguson has one selections for us on Tuesday from Lingfield; Sire De Grugy in the 2.00. Compare odds and bet.
If Lingfield manages to pass a 7:30am inspection Sire De Grugy (2:00) is the most interesting runner on the card and Gary Moore’s six-year-old is fancied to concede a 7lb penalty to the useful Cantlow.
Both horses were smart hurdlers, with this 2m trip much more suited to the selection, who had the pace to win a Grade 2 novice hurdle round Kempton and last season finished fourth in the Betfair Hurdle and third in the Imperial Cup.
An easy winner (also at Kempton) on his chase debut, he finished a clear second to the exciting Captain Conan in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham just 11 days ago and, if this race doesn’t come too quickly for him, he ought to take a fair bit of beating.
The chestnut relishes soft ground and, though today’s going will be as testing as he has raced on, he should handle it. He was trading at 4/6 with Boylesports last night.
Paul Webber’s Cantlow ought to give him most to think about after his encouraging second to Hazy Tom on his fencing bow at Warwick recently. He kept on well, which was to be expected being a stayer, and he ought to come in to his own over further in the months ahead.
Tuesday’s selection:
2:00 Lingfield: Sire De Grugy (4/6 Boylesports)
