Live on Skysports 1: Sun 16.00: Liverpool are 4/7 (Stan James) to beat Newcastle in the Premier League but we’re siding with the Magpies.
Stan James saw enough in last weekend’s controversial Merseyside derby to install Liverpool as emphatic 4/7 favourites as they host Newcastle and curiously that’s a price that has shortened from the initial quotes of 8/13 since the Reds were well beaten at home by Swansea in the Capital One Cup.
However, Brendan Rodgers’ troops haven’t done enough this term to justify such a short price and while the Magpies haven’t exactly convinced themselves of late – the victory against West Brom a week ago perhaps a touch fortuitous – they’re more than capable of picking up a result at Anfield, especially as only Manchester United and Chelsea have beaten them in any competition this term.
BetVictor rate the stubborn visitors at 5/1 to pick up a maximum haul but a better bet is arguably Skybet’s 16/5 for the spoils to be shared in a clash that William Hill chalk up at an enticing 15/2 to finish one-each.
Newcastle, as underdogs, are assisted in the handicaps, where Skybet give them a goal start at 6/4 and undecided punters might also fancy bet365’s 4/1 marked against Alan Pardew’s men in the ‘Draw No Bet’ market.
Demba Ba meanwhile, has struck seven times in the Premier League in nine matches and the Magpies front man looks overpriced at 13/5 (bet365) to add to that tally at some point.
