Kingsbarns won the Racing Post Trophy for Aidan O’Brien and moved to the head of the betting for next year’s Epsom Derby with StanJames.com.
The firm’s Rory Jiwani told betrescue.com, “We took on Kingsbarns as we thought he had plenty to do given he had only previously won a Navan maiden. But the Ballydoyle inmate lived up to the hype and quickened smartly to win with Van Der Neer sticking on well for second.
“We’re taking no chances now and make him 3/1 favourite from 10/1 for the 2013 Epsom Derby and 6/1 from 25/1 for next year’s 2000 Guineas. We’ve also cut Van Der Neer from 40/1 to 25/1 for the 2000 Guineas.
“Elsewhere, Big Break beat the colts to win the Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown and we make Dermot Weld’s filly a 12/1 shot for next year’s 1000 Guineas. She’s also 16/1 for The Epsom Oaks.
“Tawhid won the Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury for Godolphin with Jim Crowley an able deputy for the delayed Frankie Dettori. We make Saeed Bin Suroor’s colt a 25/1 chance for the 2000 Guineas.”
