Long Run is the 7-2 favourite with Coral for the King George VI Chase, following the news that the five-time winner, Kauto Star, who had been 8-1 for a sixth win, has been retired. Grand Crus is 5-1 second favourite, ahead of Finian’s Rainbow at 7-1.
“The news of Kauto Star’s well-deserved retirement brings to an end one of the greatest eras in National Hunt racing. Unsurprisingly he had a huge following among punters, with every win cheered home in betting shops across the country, but even so, we’ll be sad to see him go, as his rivalry with stablemate Denman captured the wider public’s imagination and took racing onto the front pages,” Coral’s David Stevens told betrescue.com
