Live on Skysports 1: Sun 16.00: Chelsea’s are 6/4 (BetVictor) to continue their fine start in the Premier League by beating Manchester United.
Chelsea are four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after their impressive victory at Tottenham took their tally to seven wins in eight outings but the buoyant Blues face another huge test of their title mettle this afternoon as they welcome second-placed Manchester United to Stamford Bridge.
The unbeaten hosts obviously come into the game in fine form, that White Hart Lane triumph added to recent success against Arsenal, but Sir Alex Ferguson’s troops are in decent shape themselves having picked up six wins and a draw since their opening day reverse at Everton.
Nevertheless, Roberto Di Matteo’s men, aided by home advantage, are BetVictor’s 6/4 favourites to strike an early blow in the race for the championship while United are a 15/8 chance at Stan James and it’s 12/5, this time with bet365, to finish all square, the latter likely to attract cash ahead of such a titanic tussle.
However, as the visitors have shown plenty of vulnerability this term, despite their lofty league position, it’s easy to fancy Chelsea, who are 7/2 (Ladbrokes) to shade it by one and 9/1 courtesy of Stan James to finish on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline.
Understandably, Fernando Torres and Robin van Persie head the first scorer betting at 7/1 (BetVictor) and 6/1 (Paddy Power) respectively but the smart money will be on Juan Mata who has been in fine form of late. The Chelsea schemer is 8/1 via bet365 to break the deadlock while Skybet mark 11/4 against the Spaniard finding the net at any stage.
