Paul Nicholls enjoyed a fine day at Exeter yesterday, with Mr Mole and Rebel Rebellion scoring and Rocky Creek running a fine race on his chase debut, and, while he has several interesting runners on show at Worcester, he is taken to strike at Fontwell this afternoon with Easter Day (4:00).
The four-year-old shaped really well when third at Chepstow on debut (winner Melodic Rendezvous finished runner-up yesterday) before chasing home what could turn out to be a smart sort at Worcester in May.
The heavy ground is an unknown, but the stable’s Black Thunder, who is also by the sire Malinas, handles soft ground last year so connections will be hopeful and, in receipt of 7lbs from the previous winners, they will be disappointed if he can’t take this.
At Worcester, the pick of Nicholls’ runners is the exciting points winner Fox Run, who takes on Horatio Hornblower and another expensive purchase, Presence Felt, in what looks the race of the day (division two of the 2m4f maiden hurdle).
