BetVictor have cut the odds on Frankie Dettori winning next year’s Jockey’s title from 20s to 16s this morning following support.
Spokesperson Charlie McCann told betrescue.com: “We remain unconvinced that the 41-year-old Italian will have the drive to challenge for next year’s title despite the positive noises from him and his agent Ray Cochrane ahead of his first meeting at Newmarket tomorrow as a freelance; he is bound to be popular with both owners and trainers and is, arguably, still the best jockey riding, but will he be happy chasing winners riding in two low-grade meetings a day next summer?
Richard Hughes is our 8/11 favourite and we are behind the Champion-elect of 2012 for a repeat in 2013; we know Dettori remains the go-to jockey for the big races but has he the commitment and desire to make a concerted challenge for his fourth Jockey’s Title? We think not.”
