John Gosden is into to 5-4 (from 13-8) to win this season’s Flat trainers’ championship according to Coral.co.uk after the victory of Gallipot at Newmarket today took him above Aidan O’Brien at the top of the standings. O’Brien remains favourite, at 4-7 (from 4-9), with Sir Henry Cecil quoted at 16-1.
“We initially cut John Gosden to 13-8, with Aidan O’Brien priced at 4-9, but punters clearly thought that price was too big about the man at the top of the standings. There is still plenty of prize money up for grabs, and both trainers are likely to be well represented on the richly-endowed Qipco British Champions day, meaning this race could well go to the wire,” Coral’s David Stevens told betrescue.com
On what could turn out to be an informative day at Headquarters, the opening winner, Telescope, earned a 20-1 quote from Coral for next year’s Investec Derby, while Havana Gold is 25-1 for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas after his Group 3 success.
