Sun 15.00: Blackpool, at 4/9 with Skybet, should be too good for Morecambe in the Capital One Cup and Matt Phillips can strike.
In an Olympics-enforced break from the norm, the start of the football season for those outside of the Premier League has been altered this year meaning that the first competitive clash of the campaign is actually a Capital One Cup tie.
For Ian Holloway’s Blackpool that means a home clash with Morecambe rather than a Championship encounter and as they ply their trade two divisions above their opponents it’s perhaps not surprising to see the Seasiders installed as odds-on favourites at 4/9 with Skybet to get the better of the Shrimps.
Stan James post 13/2 against an upset at Bloomfield Road, where it’s 10/3 via bet365 to finish all square and 8/1 courtesy of BetVictor to end one-apiece while Paddy Power mark 14/1 against both sides eventually prevailing on penalties.
On their own patch however, Blackpool should have the upper hand so bet365’s even money for them to be in front at the end of each half stands out alongside Stan James’ 6/5 for the Tangerines to triumph by at least two clear goals.
With the latter in mind, BetVictor’s 19/2 for Holloway’s troops to run out 3-1 winners isn’t without appeal in a fixture available at 4/6 (Stan James) to produce three or more goals and 5/6 via bet365 to see both teams find the net.
Meanwhile, Paddy Power rate Blackpool at 2/5 to break the deadlock, BetVictor make that opener at 17/20 to arrive before the 27-minute mark and it’s 5/1 at William Hill for it to be struck by Matt Phillips.
