Rory McIlroy is odds-on at 4/5 to keep hold of the top spot in Golf’s world rankings until next year according to Ladbrokes.
Should McIlroy pick up the 2013 major trail where he left off in 2012 it’s 12/1 he adds another US Open title to his tally or there’s a 10/1 chance the Northern Irishman puts the ghosts of times past well behind him by pulling on the green jacket in Augusta.
However for punters who aren’t as optimistic it’s odds-on at 4/9 that he doesn’t take home any of the four majors next year. McIlroy’s win at Kiawah Island saw the bookies fork out over £500,000 in winnings to punters who backed him pre-tournament at 20/1 as well in-play across the rain sodden weekend.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told betrescue.com: “Rory was heavily backed but thankfully the whole country was busy watching the Olympics, otherwise we would have been completely in the bunker.”
