Tiger Woods is just even money to top the world rankings this year according to Ladbrokes and 6/1 favourite to land the US Open title
His chip-in on the 16th proved pivotal in reaching 73 PGA tour wins and the bookies now make him odds-on (1/6) to reach Sam Snead’s record of 82 by 2014 or beyond.
The win in Ohio saw Woods climb up to fourth in the world rankings and it’s now just evens that he takes the top spot away from regular leader Luke Donald at some point during this year.
Woods’s odds for the US Open were repeatedly cut over the weekend following an influx of bets on the 14-time major champion – going into the Memorial he was a 12/1 shot and he’s now the clear 6/1 favourite for a win in California.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told betrescue.com: “Tiger’s making us sweat again and we’re anticipating a bumper payout if he wins the US Open. He’s been ignored by punters of late but we’re starting to fear him again after this weekend’s performance.”
