Live on SS1 & 3: Thu 10.00 & 20.00: Angus Loughran previews this week’s Open de Espana and also the Wells Fargo.
The Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Charlotte North Carolina is the weeks big event and it was here where 2 years ago Rory McLlroy burst onto the scene in America having just made the cut to win unchallanged with back to back weekend 62 62 a performance that is still talked about as one of the all time great weekend efforts in the games history,McLlroy is 8/1 market leader at Skybet and Stan James this week and will ne looking to regain his World Number 1 status.
I like the chances of Billy Haas this week at 40/1 (bet365 and BetVictor) he played well enough to be placed behind Lucas Glover last year and should go well.
Tiger Woods is worth a saver at 10/1 with Ladbrokes although which Tiger turns up is a tough one to answer while Cameron Tringale at 60/1 with Paddy Power looks the pick of the bigger prices for the each way backers after 3 recent decent finishes.
This is a really decent event stateside ahead of next weeks Players in Sawgrass.
Miguel Angel Jimenez looks a great bet at 25/1 at Stan James to win Spanish Open at Royal Seville a course he has played many times and was placed in World Cup of Golf with Sergio Garcia in 2004 and in this event in 2008 when only beaton by 2 shots by Peter Lawrie.Jimenez is not getting any younger at 48 but is very popular and has shown enough recent form to suggest a big week in Seville in his home Open.
Ross Fisher caught the eye with his 7th place finish last week and looks big each way value at 50/1 with Boylesports while young Italien Matteo Manassero will relish this course and should be included at 22/1 in this weeks portfolio at Paddy Power
Good luck
Angus Loughran
