Sir Alex Ferguson’s Harry The Viking is 7/1 market leader with Coral for the Scottish Grand National at Ayr following the opening show.
Coming in at 10/1 jt favs are Ikorodu Road and Portrait King while 2010 winner (and runner-up last year) Merigo is 12/1.
“We’re delighted with the entry for this year’s Coral Scottish Grand National, a race that always features in the top ten biggest betting races of the year. Our opening favourite is Harry The Viking, his second place in the Four-miler at the Cheltenham Festival proving his likeness for a marathon trip, and trainer Paul Nicholls has suggested Ayr could be his target, given Sir Alex Ferguson’s involvement as co-owner,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“However, both Ikorodu Road and Portrait King are in good form, and Merigo has shown how well he gets on in the race in the last two years, so the Manchester United’s manager’s runner could face stiffer competition than his side are currently facing in the Premier League title race!” added Stevens.
