Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Monday; Johannisberger in the 19:20 at Cork. Compare odds and bet
The Punchestown Festival gets underway tomorrow and Noel Meade, who will be hoping for a successful week, can warm up for the big meeting by sending out Johannisberger (7:20) to land this evening’s bumper at Cork.
The five-year-old has been absent since last year’s Punchestown Festival, when he appeared the stable first string in the Goffs Land Rover Bumper (according to both jockey bookings and betting), but could only finish fourth to his smart stable-companion Texas Jack.
Ridden by Nina Carberry, who is aboard again tonight, the son of Arakan came from a long way back to get involved turning for home, but he was never able to land a serious blow and he kept on well for fourth.
Obviously almost a year off the track isn’t ideal, so a market check is advised, but he ran with plenty of promise on that sole start and he sets a fair standard if returning in the same sort of form.
Monday’s selection:
7:20 Cork: Johannisberger
