Tue 19.45: West Ham are 11/10 (Stan James) to beat Peterborough in what could be a high-scoring Championship clash at London Road.
Saturday’s draw at Burnley means that West Ham have lost further ground in the automatic promotion race in the Championship and as a result the trip to Peterborough, the Hammers’ game in hand, is starting to look very much like a must-win encounter.
Sam Allardyce’s charges are Stan James’ 11/10 favourites to pick up three points at London Road, where bet365 chalk up a home triumph at 11/4 and it’s 13/5 with Skybet to finish all square. However, this is a pretty tough-to-call encounter, West Ham far from convincing enough at present to warrant a significant interest, and the shrewd move is to therefore speculate on it being a high-scoring contest.
The Hammers last five on the road have produced 19 goals at an average slightly shy of four per game while Posh’s 18 home matches have generated a massive 67 goals all told so statistically speaking it makes sense to back Ladbrokes’ 2/1 for the two sides to score more than 3.5 times between them.
Another potentially high-scoring tussle takes place at Portman Road, where Ipswich lock horns with Middlesbrough. Last season’s renewal of this fixture finished three-each while Ipswich’s home matches average more than three goals each and Boro’s last eight on the road have racked up 29 in all.
William Hill’s 21/10, chalked against the duo combining to net at least four times is worth considering then and the two matches double up at 8/1 (Ladbrokes) to both feature over 3.5 goals.

Double on over 3.5 goals in games at Peterborough and Ipswich – 8/1 (Ladbrokes)
