Live on SS3: Thu 19.30: Angus Loughran previews this week’s Honda Classic event in Florida and gives us his selections.
Tiger Woods plays in the Honda Classic at Palm Beach for first time this week and is a fair price at 12/1 (Betfred) to land the title. He is playing better golf than his results suggest and it is only his putting that is letting him down. It would not suprise me to see him win either here this week, Doral next week or Bay Hill coming up next month in Florida.
Rory Mcllroy heads markey at 9/1 with Paddy Power and having missed a chance to go World Number 1 on Sunday, he needs a win to top the rankings this week.
Padraig Harrington at 50/1 (Skybet) and Camillo Villegas at 75/1 with bet365 are my two each way bets this week – both are previous winners here and look overpriced. Harrington has just got to be more consistent but is showing signs of a return to form while Villegas may be inspired by the huge support he gets here and his excellent previous performances at the course.
With the wind likely to blow over the opening 3 days, a saver on Jim Furyk, available at 45/1 with Sportingbet, is also recommended.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
