Betrescue’s Bruin Brown from Betfair is backing Blackburn, Reading and Millwall, The treble pays 10/1 in this week’s Bruin’s Shoo-Ins
Being single, I thought I would get myself a dog to keep me company. So I went down to the local pound and got a golden retriever. He’s a great companion but I think I am going to have to return him to the shelter. He’s brought back sticks, balls, mice and birds, but not a hint of anything golden.
It’s a big weekend of Premier League action with most of the neutrals’ focus being on Arsenal’s visit to Anfield and Manchester United going to White Hart Lane on Sunday. But the value of the weekend comes in a fixture at the other end of the table between Blackburn and Aston Villa.
Blackburn Rovers v Aston Villa: Premier League: Saturday KO 15:00
Alex McLeish’s side are currently eight points clear of their opponents who occupy 18th place in the Premier League table. However, I don’t believe that they are out of the woods yet and with games against Fulham then Bolton to come The Villans could yet get sucked into a relegation battle.
Villa had looked to discover some impetus in front of goal in recent weeks which would have been more than enough to keep them out of trouble, but the injury of Darren Bent coupled with Robbie Keane’s return to LA has left them desperately short of attacking options. Gabby Agbonlahor, with just six goals to his name all season, will be required to fire his team to safety, but I’m not sure he has it in him.
Rovers’ fans are planning the “largest and most attended demonstration in the history of the club” this weekend and that could be just the tonic that Steve Kean needs to inspire his players: as happened earlier in the season against Arsenal under similar circumstances. Back Blackburn to win at odds of 2.5 (6/4) on Betfair.
Millwall v Reading: Championship: Saturday: KO 15:00
In the Championship there can be no disputing who the form team is. Brian McDermott couldn’t be tempted away from Madejski Stadium to join Wolves, and few would blame him as there’s every chance the two clubs could be switching positions next season if current form trends continue.
The Royals have won their last five games without conceding a goal to move up to third in the Championship table and are hot on the heels of West Ham in the second automatic promotion spot.
This Saturday they go to Millwall and could move to within a point of The Hammers who don’t play until Sunday. And they look tremendous value to do just that.
Millwall have won just one of their last six Championship games, but we can still get 2.5 (6/4) on another victory for McDermotts’ men at Betfair.com
Dundee United v Inverness: SPL: Monday KO 19:45. Live On ESPN
Our final selection for this week comes from the SPL where Dundee United are hitting their stride at just the right time in their quest for a top-six finish. The Terrors are now unbeaten in their last six and are on the brink of a Europa League qualification spot, having leapfrogged Hearts with a 2-0 win at Tynecastle last weekend.
Jon Daly continues to find the back of the net with a regularity that his raw ability suggests shouldn’t be possible. And he can fire them to victory this Monday when they face an Inverness Caley Thistle side who were desperately disappointing against a wounded Rangers last weekend. At odds of 1.8 (4/5) United are the best shoo-in of the week at betfair.com
Bruin’s Shoo-ins:
Back Blackburn to beat Aston Villa @ 2.5
Back Reading to beat Millwall @ 2.5
Back Dundee United to beat ICT @ 1.8
Treble pays @ 11.2 (10/1) at Betfair.com
