Sat 15.00: Northampton look too big at 12/5 (Stan James) as they visit Accrington in League Two and Southend at 6/5 (Ladbrokes) can also win.
Just over a month ago, Northampton looked destined for the drop but a run of five wins and a draw in seven matches has carried the Cobblers to 19th place, five points clear of the bottom two and Aidy Boothroyd’s side could be set to further boost their survival chances, by collecting a maximum haul at Accrington.
Mid-table Stanley are winless in seven and that run would’ve constituted seven defeats had Paul Cook’s men not grabbed last-gasp levellers in each of their last three. They’re out of form then and can’t keep relying on late goals to bail them out so it’s easy to fancy buoyant Town, especially at a generous 12/5 with Stan James.
Also primed for an away win are promotion-chasing Southend as they head to Hereford. The Shrimpers have fallen off the pace a touch of late but they’re strong on the road where they have won eleven times – more than any other team in League Two – and they come up against a Bulls team with the division’s worst home record.
Moreover, it’s at Roots Hall where the majority of Southend’s recent troubles have been and in fact five of their last seven victories have come on their travels. Subsequently, we’re happy to side with them at 6/5 (Ladbrokes) and double them up with the Cobblers at a fantastic 6/1 via Boylesports.
