Wales’ memorable Six Nations victory against England at Twickenham has prompted Ladbrokes to cut them to 4/6 for the Grand Slam.
The last-gasp success also gave punters a six-figure payout according to the bookmaker. Scott Williams’ late try helped Warren Gatland’s team shade it 19-12 and clinch a 20th Triple Crown, landing bookies with a £150,000 bill in the process.
The Welsh have now been cut to 4/6 (from 2/1) for the Grand Slam and Ladbrokes have also shortened them to 4/9 in the outright market ahead of France, a 2/1 chance after their triumph at Scotland.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “At 70 minutes we thought England were home and dry and were going to save us some money. Wales look stronger with every performance and that’s reflected in their odds for the Grand Slam.”
