Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Sunday from Ireland; Sizing Gold in the 5.00 at Navan. Compare odds and bet
After two fantastic day’s sport, today’s action is much more low-key, but Navan stages a decent card with the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle the feature.
Willie Mullins holds the key there as he saddles Mikael D’Haguenet, who continues to re-build his career, as well as Mourad, and it will be interesting to see how the pair fair, especially the former who had looked a real star in his novice hurdle season.
For the day’s bet, however, it’s a case of being patient until the concluding bumper when Sizing Gold (5:00) looks worthy of support for Henry De Bromhead and the Potts’s, who’s famous silks will be carried by Sizing Europe in next month’s Queen Mother Champion Chase.
This five-year-old made a pleasing debut when runner-up to the classy Make Your Mark in a bumper at Punchestown in November and, with time to strengthen up and the better ground likely to be in his favour, the son of Flemensfirth can go one better.
The winner has gone on to land a maiden hurdle by 10 lengths and finish third to stable-mate Boston Bob in arguably the warmest novice hurdle run in Ireland this season, while third home Our Vinnie won a bumper a Naas last month, so the form on his debut second reads reasonably well.
