Long Run has been eased back to 5/2 fav by Coral for the Gold Cup after victory at Newbury on Friday afternoon.
Runner-up Burton Port is now 10/1 from 25’s and 14/1 for the Grand National, while Kauto Star is into 3/1 for a third Gold Cup.
“The Long Run camp seemed happy enough with the win, but we reckon a half length victory over the returning Burton Port was no more than workmanlike, and were happy to lengthen his Gold Cup odds on that evidence,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“However, in fairness to the reigning champ, Burton Port looks to have run a cracking race, and has come right into the Gold Cup and Grand National picture, and despite trimming Kauto Star’s Cheltenham odds, we still favour the younger horse will start favourite on the day,” added Stevens.
On a star-studded card at the Berkshire track, Sprinter Sacre cemented his position as Arkle favourite – evens from 2-1 – with an impressive victory, while Zarkander is 11-2 (from 7-1) for the Champion Hurdle after his Betfair Hurdle win.
