Liverpool are 9/1 to win the 2013 Carling Cup according to Ladbrokes after their penalty shootout success over Cardiff at Wembley.
Kenny Dalglish’s side picked up their first piece of silverware since 2006 and are quoted with an early price of 9/1 to win next year’s trophy while runners-up Cardiff are 11/4 to be promoted to the Premier League this season.
Cardiff fought hard and their never say die attitude took it to penalties with Liverpool priced as short as 1/33 to lift to trophy after Dirk Kuyt’s extra time ‘winner’. With Liverpool leading 2-1 the draw could have been backed at 11/1.
Liverpool remain the second favourites at 11/4 to win the FA Cup this season.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “The result was excellent for us and saved us from an almighty payout to the Welsh this weekend. Liverpool didn’t make it easy for themselves or for punters.”
