Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Saturday; Captain Sunshine 1:40, Kempton. Compare odds.
Kempton needs to pass an 8am inspection for its Lanzarote Hurdle card to get the go-ahead and the feature looks a very competitive affair.
Novice mare Swincombe Flame looks interesting at the foot of the weights, but I could make a case for several of the runners in the 20-strong field.
Earlier on the card Philip Hobbs introduces a potentially classy juvenile in the shape of Sadler’s Risk, who beat subsequent Great Voltigeur winner Sea Moon in a maiden at Leicester, and Menorah takes his next step up the ladder in the novices’ chase.
It could be a big day for Hobbs, and Emma Lavelle, who saddles Well Regarded in the big race and the exciting Highland Lodge at Warwick, is another trainer who could be set for a good afternoon.
Her best chance of a winner could lay with Captain Sunshine (1:40) in the Download WilliamHill.com On Your Mobile Novices’ Hurdle.
The son of Oscar made a hugely encouraging racecourse debut behind the exciting Montbazon in a valuable Doncaster bumper last March and he also ran a race full of promise on his hurdles debut at Taunton in late December.
The six-year-old should relish the step up in trip and, whilst Hit The Headlines is respected under his penalty, it will be disappointing if the selection can’t get off the mark on his third career start.
Saturday’s selections:
1:40 Kempton Captain Sunshine
