Paul Ferguson flags up another top selection today, this time from Leicester; Baby Shine in the 14.40. Compare odds.
The mares’ only novices’ hurdle at Leicester on Tuesday is much more competitive than normal for such contests and, while Hereford winner Tempest River is respected, she is taken on with hurdling debutant Baby Shine (2:40).
A point-to-point winner in Ireland, the daughter of King’s Theatre won bumpers at Southwell and Huntingdon before finishing third to recent Lanzarote Hurdle winner Swincombe Flame in a Listed event at Sandown on Imperial Cup day in March.
She had Tempest River in behind at Huntingdon and Sandown, before finishing fourth to Ben Case’s mare in another Listed contest at Aintree’s Grand National meeting.
The selection was a bit keen that day and probably ran a little below her best but, in receipt of 6lbs, she is taken to reverse form and make it 3-1 in her personal battle with her likely main market rival and, in doing so, make a winning hurdles debut.
Sunday’s selection:
2:40 Leicester Baby Shine
