Live on SS3: Thu 06.00 & 20.00: Angus Loughran previews this week’s Abu Dhabi Champs and also the Farmers Insurance on the USPGA.
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship may be early in the season but has a Major field that outside The Big 4 and World Golf Championships we hardly ever see. Martin Kaymer is 13/2 market leader with Paddy Power and those who follow horses for courses will know Kaymer won here in 2008, 2010 and 2011 so his claims are obvious but he is no value in this field.
Tiger Woods is rarely seen at 9/1 and Ladbrokes have tempted me in, they also go 6/1 Woods for Augusta which won’t be there next week if he wins!
Luke Donald looks solid each way at 14/1 (bet365) but on a course for long hitters Alvaro Quiros looks over the odds at 33/1, courtesy of Betfred, for those wanting a bigger price.
In California, Phil Mickleson is top price 15/1 at Boylesports to win the Farmers Insurance at Torrey Pines on a course he loves while at 80/1 John Rollins looks the each way value with bet365.
Camilo Villegas is a golfer I rate very highly and at 40/1 (Blue Square) is worth following as another victory does not look far away. With two such great events this week the only real problem for the golfing punter is when to sleep!
Good luck
Angus Loughran
