Further support for cyclist Mark Cavendish to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award has seen Coral cut the Manx Missile into 5-6 from 6-5 favourite.
At one of the bookies London shops, one bet of £5,000 at 6-5 (return £11,000) was received on the day he received his MBE from The Queen.
Cavendish won the Tour de France Green Jersey for the first time and the World Road Race Championship in the summer.
Second favourite for the prestigious award is Open winner, Darren Clarke, at 9-4.
“Our punters only want to back one selection, so with the likes of Clarke, Farah and McIlroy virtually ignored in the betting, Cav’s price has gone in only one direction,” Coral spokesman Gary Burton told betrescue.com
The award takes place on Thursday 22nd December in Salford.
